Let's Discuss: Mezco One:12 Collective Temple Edition Indiana Jones Action Figure

"Fortune and glory, kid. Fortune and glory." Few characters are as instantly recognizable and respected in cinema as Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones Jr. Mezco Toyz has tackled this iconic archaeologist in their premium One:12 Collective line, and collectors had high hopes. Thankfully, this release provides a faithful, detail-rich portrayal of everyone's beloved adventuring professor.

In true Dan’s ToyBox style, we’ll break it all down by Accessories, Appearance, Articulation, and Affordability, scoring each category out of 10 before delivering a final grade.

Accessories – 9.5/10

Mezco has long been known for including an impressive assortment of accessories, and Indiana Jones may be one of their most thematically complete packs yet. Almost every item pays direct homage to Raiders of the Lost Ark, particularly the Temple of the Chachapoyan Warriors sequence.

Included Accessories:

  • Four (4) Head Sculpts: Each sculpt features a unique expression with excellent likeness to a younger Harrison Ford. The hat is a separate piece, but only one is included and is made to fit across all the head sculpts. The transition is seamless when posed correctly.

  • Ten (10) Hands: A wide variety for different scenes — fists, relaxed, gun-holding, whip-holding, and expressive gesturing — provide plenty of versatility for display.

  • Weapons & Gear:

    • Revolver with non-functional holster (while the pistol does fit in the holster, you cannot close the flap, nor will it remain closed, even when empty).

    • Three (3) Whips: One coiled, and two action poses (none are wired, which limits dynamic posing options).

    • Torch with four removable darts.

    • Golden Fertility Idol with flocked Pedestal Base — a standout accessory, beautifully painted with environmental detailing.

    • Satchel, sandbag, and cobweb with spiders — all recreate the temple escape sequence with great accuracy. The satchel can actually hold the idol and does include a small foam block to help it retain shape. The cobweb/spider effect is designed to fit over his shoulders with the jacket in place.

  • Display Base: The One:12 Collective standard stand with Raiders logo and adjustable posing arm is included.

While the non-wired whips and holster are small letdowns, the accessory loadout is impressively screen-accurate and fuels plenty of nostalgic display options.

Appearance – 9/10

Visually, this figure absolutely nails the look of Indiana Jones — from the weathered leather jacket to the anxious determination in his eyes.

  • Head Sculpts: Mezco’s digital face printing is solid here. While not Hot Toys-level, it’s easily recognizable as Ford from his early Indy years. The neutral sculpt is ideal for museum or map-room displays, while the more intense portraits lend themselves to action poses.

  • Outfit: The layered soft goods — shirt, trousers, belt, and jacket — are well-tailored, sitting close to the body without bulking up the silhouette. The pleather jacket features subtle stitching and wear patterns that mimic real leather beautifully. I was really impressed with the level of detail put into the soft goods. Once again, Mezco shows that 1/12 scale soft goods can be just as amazing as 1/6 scale.

  • Paintwork: The golden idol is incredibly sharp, with a lustrous finish that contrasts well against Indy’s earth-toned ensemble. Boots have dust-like weathering, and belt buckles are painted with metallic flecks. The flesh tones are realistic, and detail on the hands and face shows careful effort. I'm really impressed with the dais for the golden idol as well. I'm not sure if this is a resin base, but it's heavy, painted with incredible detail, shows some amazing sculpt work and features flocking for the mossy effects. This is really one of the better accessories I've ever come across.

Display Tip: Pair the smirking head sculpt with the torch in one hand and the satchel across the body for that perfect “just triggered the trap” look.

Articulation – 8.5/10

The underlying Mezco buck is as solid as ever, but the tailored clothing — particularly the pleather jacket — does restrict certain movements. Still, Indy can be posed in all the essential ways that make him feel alive on the shelf.

  • Head/Neck: Ball-jointed with solid tilt range. You can achieve good sideways glances and up/down motion.

  • Shoulders & Arms: Double-jointed elbows work great for whip-holding and two-handed gun poses. Shoulder range is decent, but the jacket may bunch if pushed too far.

  • Torso: Subtle articulation under the shirt allows for mild forward crunch and waist rotation. You can get good running or lunging stances.

  • Legs & Feet: Ball-jointed hips and double-jointed knees allow kneeling and climbing poses. Ankle range is acceptable for balance but could benefit from deeper tilt for crouched stances. Basically, the design of his shoes precludes the typical range of ankle movement, but again, what we lose in range, we make up for in awesome detail.

Without the flexibility of wired whips, dynamic motion poses are more difficult, but the figure can still be staged in memorable, scene-accurate poses.

Affordability – 6/10

At a price point of $175 on BBTS, this figure rides the upper edge of the 1:12 collector market. However, you’re paying for:

  • A comprehensive accessory suite rooted in cinema history.

  • High-quality tailored soft goods.

  • Multiple display-ready head options.

  • Excellent character likeness and shelf presence.

While the value is strong for committed collectors or Indiana Jones superfans, casual buyers may hesitate due to the price and minor articulation/accessory limitations.

Overall, the Mezco One:12 Collective Indiana Jones: Temple Edition is more than just an action figure — it’s a collectible that celebrates one of film’s most iconic adventurers. From the fertility idol pedestal to the spider-covered cobweb, this figure is a love letter to cinematic nostalgia, recreated with Mezco’s trademark attention to detail. Thus, I'm very happy to give this figure an excellent:

9 out of 10 ToyBoxes

Despite a few compromises (non-wired whips, stiff holster), the overall package is excellent. If you’re building a movie display or have a deep affection for Raiders of the Lost Ark, this Indy figure absolutely belongs in your collection.

Just don’t let it near a snake-themed diorama... Indy hates those.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by Dan's ToyBox. Until next time... GEEK OUT!!!
